The Disability Discrimination Act 1995/2005 and other relevant employment legislation
Employers and employees are subject to an ever-increasing level of legislation in the workplace, most of which is designed to make work a safer place to be. This benefits both the employee and the employer and should result in a happier, healthier and more productive workforce.
Occupational Health professionals are trained to give an opinion on the applicability of this legislation, from the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, through Disability Legislation to more recent laws on Age Discrimination.
For example, AXA ICAS clinicians can give an informed opinion as to the likely application of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995/2005 and what, if any, adjustments may be required to take a medical condition into account, thus protecting the employer and the employee in the workplace.
Pro-active advice not only helps to ensure improved attendance and productivity at work but also aids an organisation in the event of disputes that may result in attendance at Employment Tribunals.
